Things We Miss About Texas

Peacocks...

The truck, too
Our guinea pig, Gwen...

Our roses (they're probably blooming now)...

Our old house...

Most of all, though, we miss sunshine.

(But really, most of all we miss them)...

Turkeys On A Blustery Day

Here they come...

They ran back into the woods before we could get a good photo.

A Turtle Tale

2 years ago, a mother turtle laid eggs in out backyard. We didn't want an animal to dig them up and eat them (we'd seen evidence of that in the past), so we scooped them up, put them in a rubbermaid container on our enclosed porch, and waited 100 days for them to hatch. They've grown so much since then.

These videos were taken when they first hatched:

Recent Finds

I found this old photo-postcard in an antique shop in Angelica. It's from 1912. I really wish I knew what it said. I think it's titled "My 10 Grandchildren".

The antique store sells fossils, too...here's some of the ones we've gotten there.

Smackdown: Salt Vs Powder

This is another weekly article.  I was reading various stories from the paper to my son, and he assumed it was about a kindergarten play. These ladies seem sweet, though. I hope Angry Pete isn't the husband of one of them...

Rusty the One Eyed Wonder Dog

This is pre - eye enucleation. He developed an eye tumor last year. It recently got to the stage where the whole eye needed removal. Luckily, we found the perfect vet at Steuben County Vet Clinic. Thank you, Dr. Hawksworth!

Captain Conehead

  One day after surgery.

Now he's back to his old stick-eating, squirrel-chasing self.

Bored

We raise these little guys for veggie burgers. They're amazingly quiet and the coyotes don't bother them.

Yes, this is me: the radical Fabricist. Down with Polyesterites! (This is Angry Villager #2. His letters are usually in the Epic Poem format.)

Beef on a Bun

Dear Editor

We get a free weekly paper. This is one of three people who contribute regularly to the Dear Editor section. What does she mean?!! Whaaa-at is her POINT?

From the same person:

What the heck are "A's and T's"? Still can't understand her.

We'll close with this letter from a loving preacher:

It's amazing that a preacher from a small rural town would speak with such disdain about his neighbors.
