The Edumacation Of Sly Pete

Oh, Petey. One reason to learn English composition is so that you don't sound like an insane moron. Let me put it in a way  that you can understand:

[(angry ramblings)×(illiteracy) + (willful ignorance)] ÷ (the energy required to use a dictionary) = idiot³

So Exciting

I am so happy for my son. He made a fantastic score on his SAT's in March, and now he's getting mail from so many universities. Here's the list so far: RIT, Stoney Brook, Kettering, University of Chicago, Rutgers, Columbia,  Cornell, North Carolina State, and Duquesne.   Poor Mama, I'm still hoping he doesn't go any farther than Rochester.

Empty Nest Syndrome

I heard a lot of fluttering outside the window this morning. They've all left the nest - 16 days after hatching.

Now what am I going to post about?

No Reason

I just thought the light coming through the window was really pretty.

Flowers

This is a Columbine, but it looks different from the others. I think it's called a Double Pink. They're popping up all around the edges of the yard. I'm glad someone didn't mow over them.

This is one of 2 old wagon wheels we found in the yard.

Sunday Drive

We got up early in order to get to a flea market in Ithaca. We drove the back roads past Keuka Lake and through Watkins Glen. Ithaca's traffic was horrible! It seemed as bad as Houston. After lunch, we drove through Cornell University. I can picture the boy going here. It seems like his kind of town. To me, the kids looked so much older than him, though. We didn't learn much about the campus, but we did see some nice architecture.

I'm So Tired Of Apps

I hate that word. I'm tired of seeing people wandering aimlessly through stores and down sidewalks staring at their phones like they're the most important things in the world. I'm sick of app commercials and adds for apps that we "can't live without" or apps that "save time so we can enjoy life more".  The Siri commercials bother me the most. My son jokes that when Samuel L. Jackson gives his phone the night off, then lights a candle, he's actually going on a date with Siri.

Now, if this app could make my clothes magically go from washer to dryer without me, I'd be impressed. Otherwise, pfft.

Baby Birds - Day 8

Baby Birds - 1 Week Old

It looks like they're playing Twister. Seriously, I can't tell what's going on here. Now I know where the saying "only a mother could love..." comes from.

Dating Difficulties

"I'm never using that dating service again. I've had enough of these polyresin gals!"

Politicians And Other Slimey Creatures

Haven't I heard this somewhere before? What are her opponents' slogans; "Expect more, pay less"? "Save money, live better"?

Some people think things are bigger and better in Texas, but look at this Yankee slug. He's longer than my hand. Aren't Texas slugs solid colored and squatty? This one is dappled (probably to disguise himself from the overly eager human hunters)

More Yard Pics

Loosestrife

Yarrow

Wild Columbine

Backyard
I didn't know new growth on pines comes wrapped up like this.

Extremely invasive Asian honeysuckle bushes. They're everywhere, and they make the air smell so sweet.

Happy Mother's Day

Who in their right mind gets their mother a tattoo for Mother's Day? What is wrong with kids these days? Don't they know what their bodies will look like years from now? Droopy drawers, tatts, body piercings...earthquakes, the Antichrist, Russia...oh my gosh, I'm turning into my mom! Pretty soon I'll be recording Jack Van Impe shows and sending away for Armageddon pamphlets. (Bazinga)

Jeepers, Ma! I saved you ten dollars on your tattoo; doesn't that count for anything?

What the perfect son gets his mom for her special day.

More Of The Babies

It's hard to get a good picture because they are so deep inside the bush.

Magic Beans

We went down the hill to the alpaca farm today to buy some alpaca beans. The owner swears that they will make our tomatoes really grow. I don't know if they'll work, but Rusty likes them.

Baby Robins

Found these in the bush by our window. I'm pretty sure there are two babies here, but I can't tell where one ends and the other begins.

Spooooky

This appeared on our wall a few evenings ago. I was ready to call the Paranormal Research Team, and tell them to bring their walkie talkies, heat-o-meters, and handheld personal ghost finding devices. Then Mr. Smarty Pants walked by and told me it was just light through the front door's glass.

I love ghost stories. Not too long ago, on a homeschool board I frequent, I learned that demonic spirits can possess books and can easily enter your home through a middle man. They are  attracted to weak-minded people (such as drug addicts and hippies).  So, according to certain members of the homeschool community, if your UPS man is impure, and you let him step across your threshold, then there's a good chance your home will be infected.

19 Years

I'm so glad that I answered his phone call.
Soul mates.

Random

First Attempt. They then built a better home in the bush outside our window, and she's now sitting on one beautiful, blue egg.

They're either poppies or a million weeds.
This rhubarb is a division from my husband's grandpa's plant.  I think that's so neat!

Tiny lettuce that made it through the snow storm. See how rocky the dirt is?
Unidentified. Growing in a clump like it's meant to be there. We'll see.
