Turkeys and Excuses

We were going stir crazy, so  decided to brave the cold and do some shopping. First was Tractor Supply for dog treats and cat food, then on to Save A Lot for fruit. The store smelled like a dirty- diaper wearing rat had passed away, so that didn't take long.  On the way home  the largest flock of turkeys that we've ever seen crossed the road in front of us. There had to have been at least 30. Of course, my phone was in my pocket and they were nearly gone by the time I got it out. I managed to get a blurry shot of them once we got to the house.
Can you see them?
They flew as soon as they heard the car doors slam shut.
It began snowing hard and she was covered...
So I quietly carried her inside and she ate quickly while Rusty was in the basement with Ken

Back to School

Sad and glad. I got the local paper today and saw that they mentioned him making the Dean's List. He was this close to having a 4.0. He's got a new room mate, a boy from China. A math major, so they'll have plenty to talk about.  He's from a huge city, and got very excited to see a squirrel.
See the game of Risk?
One last game
Telling Rusty bye
I waited till the last day before taking his stocking down, tho he still has several boxes of dog cookies hidden in the cabinet.

When The Winter Doldrums Begin

I do not enjoy this time of year. From now til March will seem like an eternity. It's too cold for walks. It's so windy that I was sandblasted by snow tonight when Rusty and I went out. Walt's gone so I have no reason to bake sweets. I was so bored that I made my own laundry detergent. You would have thought I was cooking a batch of meth or a pot of lye from the way the guys acted. They raced around opening a window and turning on the fan.
Take these 3
Melt soap bar, then add a cup each of the other two.
Clean up the big mess.
It made 3 of these. Looks like mayo. Smells like boring soap.
I noticed how the faucet's shadow sort of shimmied when I had a candle lit, so...
I made my own dragon. When the water is turned on he appears to be projectile vomiting.  When it's turned down to a drip, you can imagine he's just eaten something juicy. Now that's boredom.

Center of Attention

Go Away
I'm still the cutest, right?
Look what I can do! Can a cat do this?
Oh please,Walt, stop looking at that cat
The cat's still here. Tonight I opened the door for Rusty to go out and the cat was sitting on the front steps. They were face to face for a few seconds while we held our breath, then Rusty decided to stay indoors.

I See You

I  occasionally see cats crossing the yard. There's a fat orange one, a long haired old orange one, and a solid black one.  Now there's a new one, and he doesn't seem feral. Maybe he was tossed out last summer when the idiot dumped all the cat litter along the road.
I went to bed last night at 8. A few hours later I got up to see what sad, loud, slightly annoying musical the guys were watching. Les Miserables. It was then that Ken told me a cat was sitting at the basement window. I am his only friend/ally in this house.  Don't worry, little Jesse Pinknose.
Not pleased at all

See the old round birdcage being reflected?
This is a different one-- he's got black feet
I like how the birdcage reflection became a part of his head.

Between Hercules and Ion

Golden Tail-feathers

Looks like clouds, but it's snow on the  hall skylight
A few days ago, when going outside didn't cause extreme pain
Walmart/Wegman's parking lot--that was a fun trip
Cranberry-Apple Pie
Our driveway is now an ice skating rink, thanks to one night of above freezing rain
Storing up sleep
Looking out a basement window
I think this may be the high for today
Don't you think naming storms is a bit too much?  Things have slowed down to a crawl here. We eat, sleep, play on the computer, watch TV, play pool, and read. Every few hours we open the door and tell Rusty to hurry out and pee as fast as he can. Even he dislikes this type of weather.
We  finally watched the last episode of Breaking Bad Sunday night, and I stayed awake for hours worrying about the characters. I think, despite my hesitations about it at first, it is my very favorite series of all time.
Walt will be here 11 more days. Eleven short days.

First attempt to make fudge.
I liked the shadow stripes
Shoveling the deck, again. They did it twice yesterday.
I thought snow was predicted today, with the sun not appearing until tomorrow...
Neighbor plowed, so now we don't feel trapped
See the one little icicle?
