Found this quilt in Angelica today. It's not super old, but I know the material is vintage and it is hand sewn. Best of all, it only cost $22.00.

First Night In The Hot Tub
Finally bought a breaker for the tub. It was surprisingly fun...I guess we'll keep it.
(The boy almost broke his toe jumping back in after setting the timer on the camera.)

Zippy.
I love this book, but can't understand why I've never heard of it before. My favorite line:
"....when Mom made me a dress that I would have rather eaten hominy than wear..."
It brings back memories of me as a kid, running in to the house and asking about supper, and then having that god-awful smell of hominy hit me.

In All The World, This Nest Is Best
Mama Robin decided her original nest is best, so she's now guarding 3 more beautiful, blue eggs. It really is the perfect spot--in a VERY scratchy, dense evergreen bush. I tried to get a picture but she chased me out.
EDIT:
The boy braved the mean mother and scratchy branches to get this pic.

For Mother - Welcome To The internet!
Glad you've finally got your high speed set up.
I've started a cutting of this for you.
Do you know what this purple flowered weed is? It grows in the shade among the trees.
The astilbe is still small but blooming.
The fern you liked is huge - we can dig a part of it up for you when you visit. The yellow flowers next to it are just weeds.
I think you'll love these two Civil War/slavery books. You better...they cost me twenty five cents each!

All Hail The Tail
Six days ago, Rusty hurt his tail. We think it may have been stepped on. We thought it was broken, because it hung limply. Slowly, he started lifting it. It still doesn't fan beautifully over his back like it used to, but it's getting better.

Vaseline
I got this Depression era spice jar (below) for $3 at the Ithaca flea market Sunday. I'm pretty sure it's Vaseline glass, because it glowed when we put it under a black light, as did my green juicer and bird bowl from Dad.
Sorry, Mother - I had to walk to the far end of the yard for these flowers even though you told me not to; luckily, I didn't encounter any bears, but I had scissors with me just in case.

Weather Whine
What a dreary day. I don't think it reached 60 degrees. I can't believe I'm wearing long sleeves and a sweater on June 18. Even crazier--it's supposed to be 88 tomorrow and 94 on Wednesday. Today I'm drinking hot chocolate and day after tomorrow I'll be sitting in the basement.

Triplets
Last evening, while the boy mowed the neighbor's lawn, I picked these flowers from his yard.
Right before dark, we went out to water the garden. Shortly after coming inside, we saw a mother bear with three puppy-sized babies sniffing in our garden. It was too dark to take pictures. Both Grandmas are worried we will all be eaten if we venture too far outdoors.

Something Wicked This Way Came..
.....and it ate all four robin eggs. I still see the adult pair hopping around together, so maybe there's a chance she'll have a third batch. Also, last night I saw four robins in the back yard; I want to believe she's enjoying some worm-time with her kids.

The Grandma Rose
My mother has the most beautiful orange roses. They are huge. I think they bloom at least 9 months a year. I found one that I hope is the same kind.
ACT Day
I made this cake because we are celebrating the end of the ACT. He's been taking practice tests every day, and I'd have to set the clock timer, give him the five minute warning, and grade his tests...it was so draining. Oh yeah, he didn't like it either. But now it's over! There were only eight kids taking the test Saturday, which I thought was weird. He said one of the girls taking the test would work on the problems for a few minutes and then go to sleep. He said she was either a genius or a slacker. I suspect it was the latter.
While he was taking the test I was digging up plants at his great aunt's house. She gave me bleeding hearts, black eyed Susans, hens and chicks, and the most beautiful pink roses and peonies. I think I heard them all whimper when they saw the sad, rocky dirt they were being transferred to.

Just Kidding
He dislikes tattoos as much as I do; even Transformer tattoos.
This is what he really bought with his birthday money from Grandma:
Ooh, look, a butterfly. He can give you the parametric equation for it, if you want.

Look, Grandma Zaza, A Tattoo!
Here's what your grandson got with the birthday money you sent. I tried to talk him out of it, but he's of legal age now....

That Was One Angry Mother
This nest was built but never used. I saw a robin in the tree so I went to look and found four more eggs. I'm pretty sure it's the same mother bird. They've fixed it up a bit, too. When I came back out with the camera, she started angrily chirping at me, and dive-bombed my head as I tried to focus.
Wild Roses
They are all over up here. If you drive past our house a mile or so, the dirt road is lined with pink ones and white ones. The pink are 3 times as large.

He's Courage the Cowardly Dog
I know these ghost shows are really lame, but I still manage to get spooked when watching them, especially late at night. They even raise the hairs on Rusty's head.
Rain Lilies
Grandma G gave these to us a couple weeks ago. She calls them rain lilies; they're divisions from some her own mother had years ago. It's been raining for two days, and they bloomed.

Celebration
We had a wonderful day; there was no waiting in line because the park was almost empty. The schools are still in session up here until the middle of June. Most of the kids there were on field trips. The weather was a cool 70°, which felt great because the past few days were in the upper 80's.
This was the first ride we (minus me) went on. I don't do rollercoasters.
This is one of the largest wooden roller coasters. My son and husband hated it. They said it was not fun or scary, but incredibly painful because it rattled them too much.
This is the third ride we( minus my husband and me) went on. It made us sick to watch, because the seating platform spun around quickly as the whole thing spun, too.
Husband and son are in this photo. I rode it afterwards, because they told me it wasn't really a roller coaster and it wasn't even scary. They lied. I was scared to death. I kept my eyes closed the whole time, so they made me ride it again.
I was terrified on this ferris wheel; apparently I don't do them, either.
This is the one that made the husband sick and dizzy. He stopped making fun of me after this. We spent the rest of the day on the "family" rides and watching the boy ride the horrible, scary ones. After leaving the park, we drove to Geneseo to check out the university there. It's only an hour from home, but that seems like way too far for me.
The end. Happy Birthday, baby boy.
