Still ice--April 23

 It's about time. I spent the day raking and hauling leaves,  Ken trimmed trees, the cat hunted anything alive, and Rusty basked in the sun.

I Meant Well

  I was cleaning the fridge and found some leftover Queen Ann's Lace jelly. It seemed like the liquid was separating from the pectin part, so I decided to toss it. I did try it and it seemed fine--this one I'd added lemon juice to, so it tasted more lemony than QA'ish. I threw it out by the animal camera. You think they liked it?
  Doesn't the first one look too young to be approaching a year old? But there are no spots, and it seems too early in the year to have one that's outgrown the spots.

The End Is Near

He's going to miss eating the snow, so...

  The end of winter. Snow's nearly gone, the squirrels/chipmunks are out, and I saw 2 woodchucks a few days ago. The most telling sign, though, is the robin that rams the window every morning, probably the same one as last year. The cat spends all day stalking anything that moves, even the deer that have begun crossing the yard again. There's still a huge pile of snow covering the side flowerbed, but maybe we'll see crocus and tulips poking up soon. It's about time. I think we're going to drive to Ithaca or Stoneybrook soon to see how big the falls are there now.

Meanwhile, back in Texas...
