On Its Way

It's here. I saw the weather forecasts yesterday, so I rushed out and gave Rusty his last bath for 6 months, since his last one didn't "take". We've turned on the small heater a few times already, but this morning K went to the basement to fire up the stove. Most likely that will run for the next 6 months, too.  Grandma B brought me several books Saturday which I added to my winter stockpile in the closet.  Geneseo's parents weekend is Saturday, and I think snow is predicted.  I went out this morning to tell all my flowers goodbye.
Even though I walk past these daily, I forgot that the original owners planted them in such straight lines( Rusty and I took a shortcut thru them yesterday, after making sure it was bear free)
Happy to have survived the dreadful bath
She and her baby were here this morning, eating apples I tossed out

Refreshments Provided at the Worm-Fest

Not really. It's a green grape cobbler. It tasted great--as long as you didn't let your mind wander while looking at it.

Oh My

The nice neighbor just brought these to us. He had two containers in his truck, but there's no way I could use all of them. I think it weighs at least 50 pounds; I can't pick it up.
I think these are Niagra

How Cool Is This?

Ken has a friend over, so I've been goofing around on the computer all day. Then I realized the dog hadn't been out all afternoon, so I grabbed the phone and went out. I was kneeling down, trying to get a clear pic of Mother's little rosebush that still has one tiny bloom when I heard a deer snort down towards the road. I thought it would make a neat picture, so I stood up and saw this guy. Rusty had no reaction at all. He wandered around slowly, looked at me a couple times, then headed for the road. I could hear a car coming up the hill, so I yelled for him to hurry and run. He did.

Fall Break Weekend

Rain-washed
Home for 4 days
Making sure those nasty slugs aren't hiding under the head-rests.
The deer above has pretty antlers. He travels with a group of 6 others, does and their young ones, but he always appears a couple minutes after they've crossed the yard.  I think bow season has started, with the rest soon to follow. Of course now I will have something to worry about if I don't see him within a few days...

First Major Apple Haul

I love looking at all the different sizes. Pears in front.

Home made apple picker

There's a huge hedgerow of wild roses that runs along the left of this tree. I bet it was gorgeous in the spring when both were blooming.
That's one tree. Look at the hundred of them all over the ground! It's blurry, but those are apples all behind the tree, too. Can you imagine what it looked like before they fell?
This tree was harder to get to, but I noticed it right away--it had both solid green and solid red fruit. The green was sweeter, too.
