Dirty Work

I spent a few days digging out the area next to the garage. I planted a few plants there last year, but was too lazy to weed. I put in tulips, anemones, and crocus bulbs. We shall see.
Before
I had a horrible time digging up a few of the humongous ferns. I moved them to the back to act as a barrier to the ever-spreading weeds.

  1. That's going to be really pretty.
I don't know how you tell the weeds from the not-weeds. Everything seemed to bloom and look like it belonged there when we saw it. Is the soil easy to dig or full of rocks?

  2. And what's that little hemispherical cage-thingy by the edge?

    1. It's covering some little flowering things I dug up from the neighbor--didn't want to pull them up by mistake.(it's a hanging basket holder from mother)
